Atlantis Marine World

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

So this past weekend I went to visit my friends in Long Island and my boyfriend decided to take me to the aquarium! I haven’t been to the aquarium since I was very very young and I actually don’t even remember going. I am so glad that I went and I was mesmerized by a lot of the displays that were available. I also even got to feed sting/manta rays!

I probably acted like a little kid too since I was so excited and also freaked out by the stingrays when they came over and ate the food. They started sucking on the wall and it all just looked so creepy to me. I would definitely do it again.

They had a ride that took lifted passengers 100ft up in the air also, called the discovery tower. It was really cool to see the entire aquarium from up above as well as seeing the surrounding area of Long Island.

My first wedding as an assistant

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

So I had the privilege to shoot along side Hoiman Yip who was my cousins wedding photographer as an assistant and in the process of the 10hr day, I was able to learn a lot from him. In the 10hrs, I shot with a Canon XSI with 24-105mmL lens. I used up five 4gb cards and a bit of my 16gb SD card as well. I have to admit that I was definitely shutter happy and I have learned to not do that next time. Everything moved so quickly and it was hard to capture the right moments.

Most of the night I was using flash and I just found it to be really funny that my favorite photo of the night was a picture that was taken when my flash batteries had died. It also just so happened that the DJ’s lights created a flare in the photo, and I felt like it really captured the mood at that point in time.

The bride was also very beautiful and every photo she was in, she just looked very nice and very photogenic

Another one of my favorite photos from that night, the couples first dance :

Ticker Tape Parade

Friday, November 6th, 2009

I have been a Yankees fan since 1996 and was never able to attend a ticker tape parade because I was still in school at those times. When I hit college (2002-2006) The yankees never won so I never had the opportunity to go to one. This year, since it could be Damon or Matsui’s last year I know I had to make it out to Manhattan and watch them go by on their floats. I stood up against the fence of City Hall park and hooked my arm around it to hold myself up while my right hand was holding my camera and shooting like mad. I am so happy that I was able to get a clear picture of Matsui and that they also stopped right in front of me for two minutes!

The crowds weren’t as bad as I thought it would be. I was right by the City Hall station for the R/W trains. The train ride there and back was enjoyable and wasn’t crowded either! I’m thinking everyone decided to pack onto the 4/5/6 trains as well as path.
